Primer fin de semana de la Liga de Pista en Extremadura.
El pasado 26 de abril (sábado) se celebró en Badajoz, la 1ª jornada de la liga de pista en Extremadura, una jornada con mucho calor y donde prima la posición por encima de las marcas todo ello hizo pasar factura a los corredores. Por parte de nuestro club, excelente actuación en líneas generales sobre todo en la pruebas de velocidad y fondo, es decir, todo lo que son carreras. La falta de especialistas en saltos y lanzamientos hace que todos los puntos conseguidos en carreras los perdamos en las otras disciplinas del atletismo. A falta de salir la clasificación general nos encontraremos en una 5ª-6ª posición lo que viene siendo habitual en los últimos años. La falta de entrenadores especializados en los sectores de lanzamientos, saltos y vallas, unido a la gran cantidad de alternativa que tiene hoy en día la juventud hacen casi imposible conseguir atletas en estas especialidades.
Para finalizar la competición hubo un excelente 4x400 donde los jóvenes atletas del club tuvieron una actuación destacada consiguiendo una tercera posición, con una gran posta final donde el atleta Abrahan Sánchez, adelantó a 4 atletas en el último 200.
Próxima jornada a celebrar el 17 de mayo en Villafranca de los Barros.
Domingo 27 de abril
Los atletas del club atletismo La Serena, Juan Francisco Sánchez y Antonio García, tomaron parte en la carrera popular Villa de Burujón (Toledo) con una destacadísima actuación quedando 1º y 2º receptivamente en las categorías de veteranos y consiguiendo unas excelente 3º y 6ª posición de la general.
Carrera organizada por el C.A.Toledo, con un gran plantel de atletas quedando ganador el atleta argentino Juan José Cruz (atleta internacional). La carrera discurría por un recorrido totalmente urbano de aproximadamente 1,9 kilometros con una fuerte pendiente de subida, al que hubo que dar tres vueltas. Desde el primer metro el atleta Juan F. Sánchez se colocó en el grupo cabecero con cinco atletas más y Antonio García en un segundo grupo con seis atletas, hasta medida la distancia de la prueba no se fueron desaciendo los grupos quedando clasificado según comentario anterior.
